In his 1995 book From Age-ing to Sag-ing, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, the most influential Jewish change-maker of his generation, created a new way of looking at aging in the second half of life called “Sage-ing.” Instead of seeing this stage of life as a time of loss and diminishment, Sage-ing affirms the importance of aging as a time for deep reflection, continued learning, and spiritual growth.
All are welcome to attend. For those who are interested in the Sage-ing Leader Certification Program, this DSW qualifies as a pre-requisite workshop.
In this workshop, You will…
- discuss how ageism may be adversely affecting your life
- learn some tools that help you let go of grievances and forgive
- begin to recognize how the stories you have consciously or unconsciously created have shaped your life
- help you to explore ways to leave a legacy of love that goes way beyond your legal will
- learn how to embrace mortality or impermanence as a good thing, and
- discuss how you can continue to be of service as an elder
| |
Who will benefit from taking the DSW:
- Older men who wish to design the next stage of life and the lives they touch by aging consciously
- Professionals and caregivers who work with older adults
- Clergy, spiritual directors, social workers, hospice workers
-
All men who are interested in exploring a new paradigm of the life cycle as described by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi in his best-selling book From Age-ing to Sage-ing.

This is an important time for all men to begin to understand the light within, and how that light can be a source of support to themselves and to others.
