Sex – Money – Religion – Death

We’ll chat about the last of these conversational taboos.

Rather than being forbidden, we will have the opportunity to open to our thoughts and feelings about death and dying in a safe, confidential, and supportive space.

Long-held superstitions forbade conversation about death. Now that we are living longer, these conversations have become vital to our mental and physical health, and longevity itself.

We will engage in authentic discussion, listening deeply to one another without advice, agenda, objective, or a particular theme. There is no intention to reach a conclusion or to promote a course of action. This is an opportunity for speaking and listening from the heart to feelings and thoughts rather than a bereavement/grief support group or a counseling session.

Facing our mortality is one of the tasks of the elder. In the words of Reb Zalman “People who face their mortality live out their days with greater zest and joy. By facing a subject that usually depresses and terrifies us, we feel lighter, freer, more perceptually and cognitively alive in all our encounters…We are more aware of how precious life really is.” (source: “From Age-ing to

Sage-ing,” pp 81-82).

Let’s gather together to celebrate the precious lives we have!

Facilitator

Felice Rhiannon, CSL is a Certified Sage-ing Leader and a Veriditas-certified Labyrinth Walk Facilitator. She facilitates workshops in conscious ageing and spiritual eldering.

Felice serves her Brighton, England community as a OneSpirit interfaith minister, spiritual counselor, and celebrant for all of life’s transitions.

Before she “retired” Felice worked as a yoga therapist, specializing in teaching people over 50 and those living with cancer. Felice’s blog posts can be found on her blog site elderspiritblog.wordpress.com and on the Sage-ing International website, www.sage-ing.org.

Whether you do your eldering work alone or in socialized settings at workshops and meditation retreats, or through solo meditation and journal writing, remember that the work of integrating body, mind, and soul requires time and commitment…you can begin shaping your life into a noble masterpiece.”

 – Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi

To support you on what Reb Zalman refers to as “this pioneering journey into your unmapped potential,” whether you are young or old, Sage-ing® International offers 3 categories of educational programs, each with its own unique flavor.

The Signature Programs

serve as an excellent introduction to sage-ing’s core topics (Images of Aging, Life Review, Forgiveness, Facing Mortality, Legacy, and Service).  They provide the tools and resources needed to explore the aging years in order to navigate the second half of life with greater understanding and purpose.

The World Wisdom Programs

allow participants to explore cultural traditions and perspectives across the globe on aging and spirituality to deepen their understanding of their own aging years and to enhance their “Sage-ing tool-box.”

The Enrichment Programs

supplement and broaden SI’s range of educational opportunities by inviting guest presenters who are accomplished authors, innovators, Sage-ing® Leaders and other creative professionals, to facilitate workshops and webinars that reflect their areas of study and mastery of topics related to aging more consciously.
